Fans across the globe are still stunned and saddened over the recent divorce news from one of Hollywood’s elite A-list power couples, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, after 12 years of marriage.
Reports have surfaced and the couple’s insiders say Jolie, 41, claimed irreconcilable differences between the two as the cause for couple’s breakup. She reasoned that the best move for her was to dissolve the union due to her being distraught and disheartened over Pitt’s treatment of their children. Jolie at the present time has filed for joint legal custody, not joint physical custody.
One of the attorneys in the case who spoke on the condition of anonymity mentioned that the divorce was filed because that was the best thing for keeping the health of the family intact and not susceptible to breaking apart.
Through various reports including those from TMZ within the last several weeks, that contrary to uncorroborated reports from various sources (not insiders), that the divorce wasn’t caused by any infidelity from either Jolie or Pitt. Some had discussed and debated that Marion Cotillard, who co-starred with Pitt in 2016’s critically-acclaimed Allied, had a hand in the couple’s dissolution. Both actors have overwhelmingly denied the scuttlebutt putting this flawed reasoning to rest.
The soon to be ex-couple have 6 children together and having to parent this substantial amount might have taken their toll on the pair’s relationship. The couple’s first child, Maddox, was adopted from a Cambodian orphanage in 2002. Maddox had also been front and center of an FBI investigation of Pitt into possible child abuse charges, undoubtedly spurred on by Jolie. The charges were dropped however, and the investigation closed by the FBI in November 2016 because there was no substantiation to any of the charges brought about. Jolie separated from actor Billy Bob Thornton in 2002, which occurred 3 months after Maddox was adopted and before she was involved with the Benjamin Button star.
Zahara Marley is the couple’s oldest offspring and was adopted from an Ethiopian orphanage in July 2006. The couple’s first biological child, Shiloh, was also born in 2006 as well. The adoption of three-year-old Pax Thien, from Vietnam happened next, followed up by the birth of twins Knox and Vivienne in 2008 to round out the family.
